Miah

Miah Ulysse – Northside Fresh Coordinator & Policy Manager

Miah coordinates Northside Fresh and leads local food policy movements through the Coalition. She holds a BS in Food Systems and has a professional background in marketing, community organizing, and business development. She is passionate about cooperative, systems-based food movements and is committed to working with Coalition partners to continue building a stronger, for self-sufficient food system in North Minneapolis. In her spare time, Miah enjoys gardening, hiking, reading books about centenarians, and experimenting with baking.

Melanie

Melanie Heckt – Northside Fresh Engagement Coordinator

Melanie is the Engagement Coordinator for the Northside Fresh Coalition and is extremely excited to be joining the Appetite for Change team as an AmeriCorps VISTA! In her position, she will be working to increase coalition engagement with northside youth and families, co-lead quarterly meetings and action teams, build capacity for communications and outreach, as well as develop volunteer and sub-granting systems.

Melanie worked with Northside Fresh during a class project in Spring 2017. This December, Melanie will receive her degree in Food Systems with an emphasis in community health from the University of Minnesota. She is very close with her family, especially her two younger brothers. Melanie also loves swing dancing, crocheting, and is just getting into sci-fi books and loves recommendations!
